FAIRBURN AGATE   (agata de fairburn)

A fairly large Fairburn agate specimen (photographed wet) with nice bands of red, orange and other warm colors. An excellect specimen or can be polished or sliced into cabochons if wanted.

Located 10 miles east of Fairburn, South Dakota, in the southern Black Hills area. Designated as South Dakota's state gemstone, the agate fields cover thousands of acres of very stony rugged terrain with cactus, desert brush and cedar trees. Fairburn agates are quite scarce and highly prized by collectors.
